The Royal Palace in Tongatapu







The Royal Palace, situated on the island of Tongatapu, is where King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV reigns. The royal palace is surrounded by massive pine trees dominates the seafront in Nuku'alofa. The Royal Palace was completed in 1867 and has remained unchanged except for a second storey verandah added in 1882.









The Ha'amonga Trilathon







One of Tonga's most intriguing monuments, the Ha'amonga Trilathon was erected around 1200 A.D. The Trilathon is 5 meters high, and each coral-lime stone weighs more than 40 tons. It is preserved within a 23 acre National Historic Reserve. This structure has often been compared to Stonehenge in England









The Royal Tomb







The Royal Tomb is about 10 kilometers from the Ha'amonga Trilathon. This tomb is the burial place of every Tongan ruler since the island's origin. The tomb is shaped like a miniature pyramid and is considered to be very sacred since Tongans can trace their lineage throght theit kings.


















The Southern Coast of Tongatapu








The southern coast of Tongatapu includes one of the most awesome displays of nature.The coast is adorned with limestone, and these limestones engulf some of the coastal waters. When a wave hits the limestones, the limestones' foilage spews forth a magnificent force of pressurised water. The scene is absolutely powerful and beautiful.
